Your choice of (2) J. Brunswick & Balke Co. Stepbanner Antique Cue Racks – (Copy). These are a very exact & high quality replication of an ultra rare & unique antique J. Cue Rack Pre Brunswick Balke Collender era. Made 1870’s – early 80’s when heavily inlaid & very ornate tables w / lots of marquetry were made and in style. Gorgeous design with great details – 4 1/2″ d x 38″ w. These are both one of a kind items (unique because of the birdseye maple and walnut burl on them) and you will not find another one like them anywhere on the planet – I guarantee it Look closely at any original Stepbanner cue rack you see – Originals were Poplar (a paint grade wood) grain painted to look like Rosewood. Most original racks like this have lost their rosewood – grain painted finish and are now only a stained, paint grade wood – or a poor condition original finish that few people today can replicate. I can hardly decide which one I like more. I also don’t have time to make another one for quite a while – these are very time consuming to make and finish and require a great deal of skill – I have been practicing woodworking for 30+ years professionally. The lighter colored rack is Birdseye Maple w/ maple finials (turnings) and has a beautiful aged color to it & the darker one is Walnut Burl w/ walnut finials, a gorgeous grain, and a dark, rich color. Both have ebonized and gilt details that make them really pop and gives them a real wow factor. They have (2) very different looks but both are truly gorgeous – you really need to see them in person to truly appreciate them and their details. The name on the keystone is painted on & clear coated over for durability (not vinyl or a decal). Beautiful, professionally sprayed furniture quality satin finish that feels like silk or satin – it is very smooth & feels sensuous. I have been spraying finishes for almost 30 years and I know how to lay down a gorgeous finish. (It is not a brushed on or a polyurethane/ plastic like finish – like many people use). Pics do not come close to doing them justice! While these look nice in pics, they are far more impressive and really look gorgeous in person. I guarantee you will be pleased and very impressed with the quality and appearance of these when you actually get to see it. I had an original Stepbanner rack to restore that I used to recreate these from (with the owners knowledge & part of my deal with him). All of the shapes, dimensions, moldings, turnings, etc. Are true and exact copies from an original antique rack. Not just made from pictures & guessing at shapes and sizes (I ground knives to match all profiles exactly). Originally these were made of Tulip Poplar that was faux finished to attempt to make it look like Rosewood Poplar is a medium hard wood that is really considered a “paint grade wood” because of it’s greenish color that turns brown with time and it’s grain. Poplar is not particularly attractive or even considered a “cabinet or furniture wood” – so is disguised to look like a higher quality wood. Note: I have seen and have documented with photos (4) slightly different antique/ original versions of this cue rack. These also have an “invisible” hanging system so no holes are needed to be drilled into the finished faces of these or use any exposed screws (old/ originals versions always have mounting holes drilled into the faces of them – usually multiple holes that really hurts their finished appearance). I will also include all needed hardware to mount this with the instructions – it is very simple to do with my templates and instructions. Note: The last picture shows a collage of some of my other cue & ball racks I also have for sale. (These are not included in this listing for sale). I go the extra distance to figure it out and get it right – every single time.
