Here is an antique pool table from approximately 1890 or even earlier than that is possible I believe. It has already been restored at some point and very nicely so. The only real issue at this time is that one of the leather pocket shields had been torn. Gill Billiards was hired to bring it to our shop and store it for an extended period of time somewhere around 7-8 years ago. Anyway it is now up for sale due to these things. Anyhow this is an regulation 8′ table as it was known at the time. Today this tables size is known as an 8.5′ table as the 8′ sized tables made today are 4″ shorter and 2″ less wide. The head rail has an aftermarket Brunswick Balke Collender nameplate inlaid nicely but it is not the original name plate. The shape of the original nameplate seems to have been the same size and shape as it’s current one. We have very recently made some room here in our warehouse slash workshop to put it completely together minus any new fabric / felt. The cushion rubber / bumpers are in excellent condition. We will supply at no extra charge any color of felt that you desire and we will even attach it to the bumpers for you. Other than that there is nothing else included except for a very nice set of old slightly used Aramith Premier balls that came along with the table. These same balls sell for about 200.00 at todays prices. That price will vary depending on how far away you are from us here in Oklahoma City. If you look very closely at the pics you will be able to see where there has been some sort of wood filling material applied to 3 areas where there were some scrapes and dings that the top rails had suffered at some point in time over it’s well over 100 years of existence. This vintage pool table was originally carried to it’s first location by a horse drawn wagon. This pool table has four pieces of slate instead of 3 slates like almost all pool tables have had since the earlier 1900’s. I will soon be posting up another antique table my wife and I have in our home. That one was made by the The Brunswick Balke Billiards Co. It dates back even further than this table. Brunswick made his first pool table. Before and after that a bit he was a carriage maker. At the time our personal table (yet to be listed) was made The Brunswick Billiards Co. Had merged with The Balke Billiards Co.. Even later on those two merged with The Collender Billiards Mfg. Those companies became even more famously known as The Brunswick Balke Collender Co. After 1945 they dropped the other names and then went only by the original Brunswick Billiards brand name. Back to the table in this post now. It’s made of wide grain oak which comes from very big oak and very old Oak trees. One can’t even get this really wide grain oak wood anymore unless you find some really old oak tree and then cut it down yourself. Slightly later in time from when the table in this listing was made many many antique pool and snooker tables used 1/4 sawn oak instead of wide grain due to it’s popularity. At the time this one was made the quarter sawn oak wasn’t really in style just yet. I will guestimate that 80% of all antique pool tables were made in the 9′ size instead of the regulation 8′ size. Basically this fact makes this particular table even more rare than most other antique pool tables. Just so you know most American made snookers tables were 10′ but a few were the (much more popular in Europe) 12′ size. Look closely at all of the pics so that you can see everything that you need to. We have been in business here at the same location in OKC. For 60 years now and we do not plan on going anywhere as this is a family operated business. Over the years we have acquired tons and tons of antique pool and snooker tables. If this isn’t the one that floats your boat then please let me know what one does. My name is Steve.
